New German Style “Bier Hall” Opens In Downtown Mankato

New Bohemia is a German style “Bier Hall” that features over 36 types of beers as well as a wide variety of sausages.  The restaurant had its soft opening December 17th, at 12 Civic Center Plaza in downtown Mankato. New Bohemia’s CEO Brian Ingram said he was happy with the opening of the Mankato location.

“We were very thrilled with the turnout actually, we had about 120 guests for the day so for a soft opening with absolutely no marketing it was great.”

Guests that attended the opening were treated to a wide range of both food and drink options. New Bohemia has over 20 beers on tap with a special focus on local brews. Matt McGough, General Manager of the Golden Valley location, poured a dark Fulton beer, brewed in Minneapolis, in the picture below.

The food has already drawn positive reviews from customers. One patron gave the restaurant a five star rating on Facebook, specifically saying the Jackalope sausage and giant pretzel were highlights. The Jackalope is just one of the over 24 different all natural sausages on the menu.

The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is straight out of the bier halls of Germany; with long communal tables, and no shortage of sausage dressings. Ingram said there will be a live disk jockey playing music on Friday and Saturday nights.

The only down side of the opening was the fact the restaurant had to close around 10:30 p.m. for maintenance, Ingram said. He assured Alpha News that New Bohemia will not be closing before eleven any time soon. During the week, New Bohemia will be open until midnight, and Thursday through Sunday the bier hall will be open until 2 a.m.
